In 1972, the Food Craft Institute (Hyderabad) Society was established in Hyderabad under the Andhra Pradesh (Telangana Area) Public Societies Act, 1350 Fasli (Act I of 1350F).

In 1984, the Indian government’s Department of Tourism in New Delhi updated this Institute by establishing three-year hotel management and catering technology diploma. The Institute’s name has been changed from “Food Craft Institute” to “Institute of Hotel Management Catering Technology and Applied Nutrition” due to the upgrade.

The National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology, Noida, an Apex Body established by the Department of Tourism, Government of India, is in charge of academics at this Institute. Before the upgrade, there was no way to tell if there was a problem.
